Description

Common name is ‘Soft Tree Fern’ or ‘Australian Tree Fern’.

Origin: Tasmania and Australia.

Hardiness: Trunk hardy to -10 degrees or lower for short periods.

Growth:  Huge and amazingly beautiful green fronds which may exceed the height of the trunk and grow incredibly quickly. Slow growing solitary trunk, covered with brown aerial roots.  In winter protect the crown with handful of straw to prevent snow and ice settling. Wrap the trunk and fronds with layers of fleece.

Sun: Partial shade.

Exposure: sheltered.

Soil: requires good drainage.

Moisture: Water regularly into the crown. Keep trunk moist.

Feed: Feed regularly with our Tree Fern Feed throughout the summer starting around May.
