Deciduous climber grown for its brightly coloured, stunning flowers throughout the summer months. The earlier the clematis flowers the harder you should prune it in March.
Clematis in group 1, e.g. ‘montana’ and ‘alpena’ require little/no pruning whilst those in group 2 e.g. ‘nelly moser’, ‘multi blue’ and ‘the president’ require cutting back by 1 third in march.
Those in group 3 e.g. ‘prince of wales’ and ‘arabella’ require cutting back by 2 thirds.
