This is a splendid, slow-growing, small smooth Japanese Maple with hand-shaped, lobed, dark purple leaves.
In the autumn, the leaves turn an intense orange-red before falling.
This tree is wonderful for conjuring up a Japanese atmosphere in the garden. It can be used for solitary planting and for border planting. This tree can reach a height of up to 1.5m and requires a shady position.
It does not require pruning.
