Prunus Lusitanica (Portuguese Laurel) Rootballed 125-150cm

£50.00

Forms a dense, evergreen hedge with dark green leaves and white flowers in late spring.

Different to Cherry Laurel (or Common Laurel), in appearance and growth rate.

A single plant will grow into a good sized tree if left for long enough, although is slow growing.  Can equally be grown as a short ornamental hedge of 3-4ft in height or a taller hedge at 6-7ft or more.

Relatively slow growing (slower than ordinary Laurel or Leylandii), will put on up to 1ft (30cm) of growth a year if left untrimmed.  Once the hedge has reached its desired height it should be trimmed at that height accordingly to maintain its size and increase its density.  This will slow down the upward growth of your hedge and encourage growth sideways to make a denser hedge.

Planting

The plants should be planted and thoroughly watered as soon as possible after delivery, to avoid drying out. Rootballed plants should be planted with the hessian sack still in place (the hessian will rot away in the ground). Do not remove this hessian sack.

Feeding & Aftercare

We recommend to plant with Westland Bone Meal (which acts as a root stimulant) and 6X Fertiliser (a long acting fertiliser). The plants should also be fed from Springtime onwards with Chempak No. 2.
